Bettumverkstedet is the oldest surviving industrial building from the ironworks era in Eidsfoss. The building was originally constructed as a smithy, where equipment for the ironworks, charcoal burning and mining operations was produced and repaired. Later, the workshop was used to make wooden moulds for casting furnace plates.
Today, Bettumverkstedet is a year-round workshop and arts and crafts shop, with its retail outlet open from Easter to Christmas. Here, two creative and cheerful ladies are busy knitting and weaving. You’ll find knitwear designs by Inger Kolstad and woven pieces by Irene Glosli. You’ll also find a selection of works by other artists and craftspeople.

The Ladies at the Smithy is open Thursday to Sunday 12.00-05.00 p.m. as well as during markets or whenever the sign is out. Open every day in the month of July.
