Bergsvannet is an idyllic lake in Holmestrand municipality in Vestfold, close to the historic industrial town of Eidsfoss.
Surrounded by woodland, cultivated countryside and historic buildings such as Eidsfoss Church and Eidsfoss Manor, Bergsvannet combines beautiful natural scenery with fascinating history. This makes the area an attractive destination for nature lovers, anglers and families looking for a peaceful day by the water.
Bergsvannet is a popular spot for outdoor activities all year round. In summer, it is known among locals as ‘the warm lake’ because it is relatively shallow and therefore reaches pleasant swimming temperatures. At Eidsfoss, there is a designated bathing area with a sandy beach, a grassy area, car park and toilets.
The lake is also well suited to fishing, canoeing and peaceful nature experiences, whilst the surrounding forests offer excellent walking opportunities all year round. Bjørkøya, which you can see directly opposite Eidsfoss Church, offers excellent camping facilities and good access for canoes.

Facts about Bergsvannet
The lake covers an area of around 3 km² and lies 35 metres above sea level.
The lake forms part of the Drammen watercourse and receives water from the Kopstadelva river to the south, before the water flows on through the Eidsfosselva river and Eidsfossen waterfall to Eikeren.
Common fish species in Bergsvannet include pike, perch, roach, bream and rudd.
