Welcome to Eidsfoss

Eidsfoss is a community with a calm and a historic atmosphere. The tiny town is located in a scenic environment between the two lakes Bergsvannet and Eikern at the furthest north end of Vestfold county. It is a perfect place to relax, experience arts and crafts or learn about the exiting industrial or social history.

You can walk the cultural trail that tales you around the historical landscape, through industrial history, along the water and up to the manor with its baroque garden.

Information and brochures are available at the tourist office at the Post Office museum.

From Pentecoast until late october, there are several exiting events, and then the small place is bustling with live.

The workers´ homes from the 18th century, which is quite unique in a Norwegian context, were saved from demolition in the late 1970s. Since then, it has all been about filling the old houses with life again. The spirit of hard work lives in the old timber walls, and is still alive.

Eidsfoss is a vibrant and different community, where you ca find a piece that has been lost in our modern stress. The workers´ toil, the differences between high and low, the role of women and what i was like to grow up in an ironsworks, are questions worth pondering while enjoying an ice cream ath e the country store, the outdoor seating at the inn or in the beautiful baroque garden at Eidsfoss manor.

Enjoy the good life with a view to the past!

Beate at the Tavern

Beate Bettum is a Cook With experience from French cousine. She is from Eidsfoss and owner of the Old Eidsfos Tavern, or the Tavern as the locals say. She has a firm shake and strong working hands. In the hallway we are met of the smell of the open fire Place. The fire is mostly lit and fresh flowers are on the tables. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Just like Beate.
