Sagkollen is a roundtrip of approx. 1,7 km, starting from Gata or Br\u00e5tagata. The trail takes you past remnants of old farms and ski jumping slopes, as well as cold war bunker facilities<\/a>. Bring a map from the country store or the tourist office. Sagkollen itself is perfectly suited for a break. The view to the lakes Bergsvannet and Eikeren is great!<\/p>\n

1. The old Eidsfoss Square on Gata<\/h3>\n

In the old Eisfoss Square on Gata, people could barter, buy and sell goods, or simply have a chat. Politics was no doubt discussed there too, and the first May Day parade ever held in Eidsfoss set off from here. Gata is one of Eidsfoss\u2019s three well-preserved working-class neighbourhoods dating from the 18th century. The others are Br\u00e5tagata and Hauane.<\/p>\n

2. Bunkers<\/h3>\n

In 1990, defences were erected on both sides of Sagkollen. A few years later, both bunkers were decommissioned. The rock face along Geitekleiva was perforated during the construction of the machine-gun emplacement on the opposite side of Lake Eikern. This was done so that a rockfall could be triggered by detonating explosives placed inside the rock face, thereby blocking the road to Vestfossen.<\/p>\n

3. Ski jumps<\/h3>\n

There were three relatively large ski jumps at Eidsfoss: Hurtabakken, Sagkollen and Langbr\u00e5tan. Football and ski jumping were popular sports for a long time. Langbr\u00e5tan ski jump was the last to be in use, as recently as the 1980s. Sagkollen ski jump is said to have existed since the early 1900s and is the largest of the three, with a hill record of 60 metres. Hurtabakken ski jump takes its name from the Hurta croft, the remains of which can be seen along the road to the floodlit ski trail.<\/p>\n

4. Sagkollen viewpoint<\/h3>\n

Here you\u2019ll find the most beautiful view of the walk. As well as a full view of Eidsfoss, you can see all the way up the watercourse towards Hillestad, as well as Eikern and Skibergfjell.<\/p>\n

5. Ivar Olsen\u2019s Path<\/h3>\n

The path from the bunker above Geitekleiva down to Br\u00e5tagata takes its name from Ivar Olsen, who for many years was foreman at the works and lived in Br\u00e5tagata. He enjoyed walking up here to relax and take in the fantastic view.<\/p>\n
