Rakel Seweriin (1906\u20131995) is regarded as one of Norway\u2019s most important female politicians of the post-war era. Among other things, she served as Minister of Social Affairs in Oscar Torp\u2019s Labour Party government from 1953 to 1955. She sat in the Storting as a representative of the Oslo Labour Party for six terms, from 1945 to 1969. She was politically active throughout her life.<\/p>\n
The exhibition on Rakel Seweriin<\/a> explores her life and upbringing in Eidsfoss, and presents examples of her political work as a Member of the Storting over a period of 24 years, from 1945 to 1969. We explain how opportunities for women have changed since 1913, when universal suffrage was introduced in our country.
