She became an active Labour Party politician at an early age and continued this career even when she became a wife and mother. Sale of coffee and cakes/ice cream\n4 pm: Lecture with Frank Meyer in Eidsfoss Hall “Truancy\, drunkenness\, theft and worker revolt at Næs ironworks”.\n5pm: Concert with Torgeir Waldemar\n \n  \nFrank Meyer: “Truancy\, Drunkenness\, Theft and Workers Revolt at Næs Ironworks”.\nFrank Meyer\, Kongsberg bergverksmuseum (formerly Næs jernverksmuseum)\, tells about Næs jernverk’s workers’ history. The iron works experienced good economic times in the mid-18th century. At the same time\, differences in living conditions between the “top” and “bottom” of the society increased. How did the workers react to this development? Frank Meyer tells about the workers’ different reactions to higher work pressure and a dramatic deterioration in the living conditions of the workers’ families. Meyer is a German-Norwegian historian with a long career in both the archive and museum sector in Norway\, as dr.art. from the University of Oslo (2001) and dr.phil. from the University of Greifswald (1997). He has been first archivist and head of department at the National Archives in Oslo\, general manager of the Arbeiderbevegelsen’s archive and library with editorial responsibility for the journal Arbeiderhistorie\, and held a professorship at Oslo University College and worked as historian and project manager at Næs jernverksmuseum in Tvedestrand. \nTorgeir Waldemar: Intimate concert\nTorgeir Waldemar has played at SXSW in Austin\, toured Europe\, filled Rockefeller and played for a packed Norwegian Opera with strings\, bands and dancers. Now Torgeir has removed all unnecessary equipment and travels alone with no other company than a banjo and a guitar. The Norway tour starts in September and Waldemar will visit clubs and cultural centers\, in villages and towns\, throughout our long country. This year\, speakers from the Norwegian Railway Museum and the Vestfold Museums will talk about exciting railway-related topics. \n1-1:30 p.m. Freight transport by rail\, Bjørg Eva Aasen\, Norwegian Railway Museum \nFreight transport by rail has received little attention in the form of publications\, despite its importance for the transition from self-sufficiency and households to commercial agriculture and the restructuring of agriculture in the latter half of the 19th century. \nAt 13:30-14:00. National protection plan for rolling stock\, Ellen Sletvold\, Norwegian Railway Museum \nThe national protection plan for rolling stock in the railways is linked to the new grant scheme that the Norwegian Railway Museum has for Cultural heritage in the railways. Sletvold is the collection manager at the Norwegian Railway Museum in Hamar and has professional responsibility for the collections in the museum. \n14-15. Captain Dønvig’s lifebuoy and Eidsfoss works\, Hilde Woxen Stormark\, Vestfold Museums \nEidsfoss works became a pure foundry at the end of the 19th century. There was a major restructuring of competence and technology\, which also made it possible to focus on innovative development projects. Well-known Eidsfoss products from the foundry era are mainly cast iron stoves\, agricultural implements\, household utensils and railway carriages. But not many people know that they were also on the ball when it came to producing revolutionary sea rescue equipment.

SUMMARY:Opening of the Ore road 18 June at 1-3 PM
DESCRIPTION:Opening of the old road between the iron ore mines and the ironworks – hiking\, lectures and entertainment\nSome of the most important mines for the Eidsfoss ironworks were located in the Konnerud field. The transport of ore went by boat and rail\, but also by road to Eidsfoss. Hof history association has\, in collaboration with Konnerud history association\, cleared and marked this old road\, and put up information signs. The event marks the opening on 18 June. Meet up at the Nikkerud mines at Konnerud 9 o’clock Saturday morning. From here\, we will be walking to Skulkerud\, where there will be lectures and music\, and the sale of food and drink at 1-3 PM. Then the trip continues to Eidsfoss\, for those who can. The entourage will probably arrive there at 4-5ish.  If you do not want to walk this relatively long way\, you can meet up at Thorrud camping at 11 AM. Here it will be possible to be driven to Skulkerud\, where the opening event starts at 1 AM. It is also possible to join the bus from the start at Konnerud to Skulkerud\, with or without return.
